Program Models

Autism Education Services provides custom-tailored solutions to fit the unique needs and challenges of each school district that we work with. Below are listed some of the more popular program models that we work with.

Preschool Intensive Intervention Classroom

This is a classroom design model that services approximately 9-10 students ages 3 through 5 with autism spectrum disorder for 20-25 hours each week. This model provides a high level of adult support (approximately 2:1) insuring that students receive sufficient intensive behavioral intervention focusing on target goals and objectives. It also provides small group preschool activities that provide opportunities for generalization of skills. Classroom instructional assistants are trained to implement methodologies that are based in Applied Behavioral Analysis as well as developmental instructional strategies. Each student’s program is individually designed to meet his educational needs. Speech and language therapy and occupational therapy are provided based on each student’s individual needs.

Integrated Preschool Classroom

This is a classroom design model that services approximately 9 students ages 3 through 5 with autism spectrum disorder and 9 students without disabilities for 20-25 hours each week. This model requires a lower level of adult support (approximately 3 or 4:1) focusing on target goals and objectives. It provides small group preschool activities that provide opportunities to facilitate expanding the communication, socialization and organizational skills of students on the autism spectrum with their typical peers. Classroom instructional assistants are trained to implement methodologies that are based in Applied Behavioral Analysis as well as developmental instructional strategies. Speech and language therapy and occupational therapy are integrated into the daily instructional activities and based on individual student needs.

Elementary Autism Spectrum Disorder Classroom

This classroom design model services up to 8 students with autism spectrum disorder grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Students attend school at least as long as their general education peers. This classroom provides a level of adult support that insures that each student receives sufficient individual instruction to make progress on his Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives as well as grade level small group instructional activities. Classroom instructional curriculum includes all areas outlined by the state general education standards as well as communication and socialization skills. Classroom instructional assistants are trained to implement methodologies that are based in Applied Behavioral Analysis as well as other research based instructional strategies found to be effective for students on the autism spectrum. Designated instructional services like occupational therapy and speech and language therapy are provided based on individual student needs.

Elementary Autism Support Classroom

A classroom model that supports up to 12 students with autism spectrum disorder grades kindergarten through fifth grade. This classroom provides small group instructional support to students focusing on socialization, organization and pragmatic language skills. Classroom instructional assistants are trained to implement methodologies that are based in Applied Behavioral Analysis as well as other research based autism strategies found to be effective for students on the autism spectrum. Designated instructional services are provided as needed.

Middle School and High School Autism Spectrum Disorder Classroom

This model services students in grades 6 thru 12 with autism spectrum disorders.
